Brody's broken leg, Mommy's broken heart

So I have not had much time to post lately, however the past week has been a doozy at this house! A week ago tonight Brody was running into the living room and turned his ankle while stepping on the side of a ball. He immediately went down and cried like I had never heard him cry before. I knew something was wrong, however there was no swelling, redness, or bruising so I waited until the next morning to take him to the pediatrician. Needless to say I should have gone with my gut feeling because the doc sent us to radiology for x-rays.

While on the way I called my mom because I would not be able to be with Brody in x-ray because of being pregnant. I of course cried...hard...and then of course cried some more while he actually had the x-rays taken. I stood behind the wall that the x-ray techs do when they take the pic and I saw the fracture right away.

We then had to wait on the results because nothing can ever be easy! So we waited and then went on our way to the ER so they could stabilize his leg with a splint. That of course was traumatic as well...poor Brody.

Then over the course of the weekend Brody somehow ended up with Croup so we were back at the pediatricians on Monday morning. We left with a script of steriods and were on a way. We then headed to the orthopedic doctors office so Brody could get his cast put on...also very, very traumatic. All Brody could do was scream and cry, however with having croup it was not a good combo. The person who put the cast on allowed me to hold him mid casting so that I could calm him down. I do have to say that from the hospital to the ortho doc, everyone was really patient and kind to my baby!

Well, four days later Brody had another really bad day (he cried, did not want put down and was holding his ears in pain). SO...back to the pediatrician we went today and found out that Brody has an ear infection on top of everything else! My poor baby deserves some kind of award...I cannot believe the resilence of children, it is amazing! I believe that most adults would not even get out of bed if all of this had happened to them.

Anyway, I pray that Brody will heal fast from everything, and be that happy baby that I know and love so much. He is such a sweet boy and we have decided to put his birthday party off so that way he can run around when his party occurrs.
